Abstract: Cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) has the mechanism of exercising cardiac and pulmonary functions during cardiac surgery and without CPB the heart remains in operation throughout the surgery. Even with the passing of the years and with the advancement of techniques, together with the best choice for each individual making use of CPB or not during cardiac surgery, complications are still frequent considering all the factors that are pre-determinant for the condition and rate of patient survival, intervening in the quality of life. The sample consisted of n 20, 65% women, 15% without comorbidities and 20% presented hypertension; 30% of the women underwent mitral valve replacement and myocardial revascularization surgery; 100% submittedto CPB; greater time of CPB were in men 58.42 ± 19.46 (22.85 ± 21.14); longer residence time among women 4.84 (± 1.70) days; 45% of women without complications; 28% women with dyspnea; 33.33% of women treated with oxygen supplementation. It was concluded that CPB did not bring pulmonary complications to the majority of the sample, although without the CPB group.

Abstract: The birth of a child with a medical diagnosis of PC causes a negative impact on the family, who experiences a new situation, unexpected, highlighting a figure of the caregiver, who in most cases is represented by the mother, who assumes a new role in the environment family. The objective of this study was to verify the operational performance of the PC with the accounting and the perception of the QoL of its caregivers. They participated in the study 14 with the diagnosis of CP in follow-up at the Center of Equitation and Equine Therapy in Southern Minas (EQUOSAÚDE) and the Varginhese Foundation for Assistance to Exceptional Persons (FUVAE) and their caregivers. The Pediatric Disability Assessment Inventory (PEDI) and the Medical Results Study 36 - Short Form Health Research Item (SF-36) were applied to the caregivers. Significant correlations were found between the PEDI scores and the vitality and mental health domains of SF-36. In addition, a significant correlation was found between marital variables and a pain dimension of SF-36 (p = 0.04), this difference was greater in single caregivers when compared to married. The caregivers analyzed in the study were predominantly represented by the mother, aged between 27 and 60 years, and married. Significant correlation was found between motor performance with CP and a caregiver QoL in the vitality and mental health dimensions of the SF-36. No significant correlation was found between caregivers QoL, the topographic diagnosis, and the age of the care recipient.
