VIOLÊNCIA CONTRA A MULHER: o retrato da mídia

Abstract

This work analyzes violence against women and the laws as an increase in support and awareness, working as a resource to support the victim so that they can get out of an abusive relationship, guaranteeing severe punishment for those who practice domestic violence. The work also characterizes the crime of domestic violence, as well as its differences and motivation, in addition to bringing analyzes regarding the role of journalism in this theme. To carry out the research, a bibliographic study was carried out, with consultations involving the themes of gender inequality, domestic and family violence and laws that ensure women's rights. Historically, the woman was placed as an object, because she was educated to tolerate, obey, respect and be submissive. However, society underwent transformations, including the feminist movements that sought for women's rights. Thus, one of the notes presented is that one of the reasons why the crime of domestic violence is still so recurrent is due to the power of control and domination granted to male individuals over female behavior. Although many changes, such as stricter laws, have taken place, machismo is so deeply rooted that the necessary change must take place in the structures of society, and journalism, with its power of influence, can help in this matter. It is concluded then that the violence suffered by women is a cultural/social problem and the solution is due to everyone belonging to society.
