Abstract: Proposal of this academic work is to make a current study on Construction in Light Steel Frame. The study of this topic is necessary due to the recent increase in light steel frame constructions, and parallel to this increase, the doubt also grows whether this type of construction is financially viable, if the reliability and durability are similar to the more traditional construction methods or even if it's faster and cleaner. The main purpose of this work is to research the financial and temporal viability in the construction of popular houses in steel frame. A comparative methodology was used between conventional masonry construction and light steel frame construction. In order to make the research as accurate as possible, companies specialized in the respective construction methods were consulted using the same architectural plan. Due to the enormous scope of the subject, the research was focused on the city of Campinas/SP, which is a city that contains both types of construction researched, making such a comparison feasible. The study showed that when it comes to costs, light steel frame and conventional masonry construction methods are very similar, but conventional masonry is still slightly more financially viable. However, speaking of the work schedule, that is, construction time, construction in light steel frame on average takes less than half the time, in less than three months it is possible to complete a low-cost housing project in light steel frame, as for conventional masonry it takes an average of 8 months.
