Abstract: The early introduction of industrialized foods contributes to the formation of inadequate eating habits, which cooperates for the onset of chronic diseases over time. The goal is that in the first six months the child has exclusive breastfeeding. After the six months the child can start receiving complementary foods, the way in which these foods were introduced will influence the formation of children's eating habits. Therefore, the objective of this study is to evaluate the nutritional status of pre-school children, their food intake and to associate the time of breast milk supply by the mother. The study was carried out with a sample of 28 children aged 6 years old from a municipal pre-school in Ilicínea-MG. In addition to the term, the mothers of those who authorized data collection were given a questionnaire on infant feeding frequency and questions about breastfeeding. After signing the TCLE the children underwent an anthropometric evaluation, in order to classify them in eutrophic, overweight and obese according to the percentile. It was possible to observe that 71.43% of the children presented eutrophy. Regarding early weaning, it was observed that among the children evaluated, 64.28% were exclusively breastfed up to six months and 35.72% had an early feeding. It was also possible to observe that eutrophy prevailed among the children evaluated, even in those who had early weaning. However, it is important to emphasize the importance of exclusive breastfeeding and a healthy diet for the child's health and development as a way to prevent intestinal and respiratory diseases, as well as the development of chronic noncommunicable diseases such as obesity, hypertension and cardiovascular diseases.
