Resumen : This work addresses the importance of the teacher in the teaching-learning process, based on Vygotsky's conceptions, especially in the creation of the student's zone of proximal development (ZDP). Such an approach is due to the fact that the school context is one of the main sources of child development, in which the teacher has a fundamental role, being able to provide students with quality learning through sociointeractionist teaching strategies that allow the learner's progression. The aim of this study is to highlight the active role of the teacher in the creation of the ZDP characterized as the space between the level of real development and the level of potential development of the subject. This purpose will be achieved through bibliographic research, such as books, articles and magazines. The study demonstrated that mediation in the ZDP occurs through interaction with each other, with dialogue being an essential strategy for student development. He pointed out that the understanding of the mental structuring process helps to understand the construction of knowledge carried out by the student and that the diagnostic evaluation considers the level of ZDP that the student is at, offering the necessary support for the mediating action of the teacher, capable of directing the student for meaningful learning.
